SPFPP Yoga Therapy with Courtney Brame: Emotional Wellness Strategies for People with Herpes
Yoga Therapy for herpes stigma offered by Something Positive for Positive People led by Courtney Brame
Yoga Therapy for Herpes Stigma and Emotional Wellness
Living with herpes can feel overwhelming, especially when stigma adds emotional weight to an already challenging diagnosis. At Something Positive for Positive People (SPFPP), we offer Yoga Therapy as a personalized and accessible support option to help you manage your emotional health and feel more grounded in your body.
My name is Courtney Brame. I am a Yoga Therapist in training and the founder of SPFPP. I guide donation-based one-on-one Yoga Therapy sessions that are designed to help people living with herpes reconnect to themselves, manage stress, and explore healing beyond talk therapy alone.
What Is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy is not the same as a traditional yoga class. It is a one-on-one experience tailored to your emotional and physical needs. Each session may include:
Breathwork to support emotional regulation
Mindful movement to release physical and emotional tension
Guided reflection to understand and process your thoughts and feelings
While talk therapy focuses on verbal processing, Yoga Therapy combines movement, breath, and self-awareness to engage the whole person in healing.
Why Yoga Therapy?
SPFPP data shows that 15 percent of people report emotional stress as a trigger for herpes outbreaks. Yoga Therapy can help address that emotional stress through accessible practices rooted in the science and philosophy of yoga.
Yoga Therapy can support you in:
Managing emotional stress and anxiety
Rebuilding confidence after a herpes diagnosis
Creating space for reflection and clarity
Reconnecting to your body in a safe and empowering way
Reducing the impact of stigma on your mental and physical health
Additional Areas of Support
Although many people come to Yoga Therapy through the lens of herpes stigma, the work can also support people navigating:
Addiction and recovery: Yoga Therapy can provide tools for regulating emotions, rebuilding a relationship with the body, and working through triggers.
Chronic pain: Gentle movement, breathwork, and body awareness can help reduce tension and improve your relationship with pain.
What to Expect from a Session
Sessions are 75 minutes and take place virtually. We begin with a conversation about your goals and emotional state. From there, I offer a guided practice based on your needs. Everything is optional and designed to meet you where you are.
You do not need to have yoga experience. These sessions are designed for all bodies, all identities, and all levels of comfort.
Testimonials and Client Outcomes
Some clients have reported feeling more emotionally grounded, confident, and free from shame after our work together.
T. W. who began sessions to rebuild confidence after years of shame, found a loving relationship during our time working together.
K. B. shared that she was finally able to speak about her herpes diagnosis without crying, after decades of silence.
H. G. has been using Yoga Therapy to support emotional regulation while working on quitting smoking, navigating relationship dynamics, and managing chronic pain.
We are currently developing client stories that highlight these outcomes. You may see them featured on this page in the near future.
Donation-Based and Accessible
Sessions are donation-based so that anyone who needs this support can access it. You decide what you can contribute. No proof of diagnosis is needed. This offering is built on trust, compassion, and mutual respect.
